Start Here

Welcome to Wood’s Wanders — a long time coming, if I’m honest. I first planned to start this blog back in 2017, and let’s just say it took a while to get here.

I’m Gareth, based in Kent, and I’ve been travelling since before I had any real say in the matter — school trips, family holidays, university adventures — and it just never stopped. Over 30 countries later, Europe remains my favourite playground, and this is where I’ll be documenting most of what you’ll find here.

Wood’s Wanders exists for two reasons: to give me a place to log my trips properly, and to share anything genuinely useful I’ve picked up along the way. No fluff, no sponsored itineraries that nobody could actually afford — just honest travel content from someone who fits trips around a real life and a real budget.

You’ll find content covering:

  • Interrail routes and guides
  • Hostel vs hotel — when each is actually worth it
  • Overrated and underrated European destinations
  • Solo vs group travel
  • Packing tips and kit recommendations
  • Budget travel — how to afford regular trips without it taking over your finances

New content is added regularly. If you want to know more about me and why I started this, head to the About me. If you want the latest posts straight to your inbox, sign up below.
